Thanks to your help we found the guest house and spent two fine nights there, climbing the wall to one side on the first day, and to the other across to Jinshanling on the second day. It was a great experience - my boy found it the most exciting one on our trip.

We actually ended up doing this with a group of four of us. It was a great trip, and Mr. Liu was extremely nice. It was some of the best food I have had in China so far! The three people I brought said it was a very memorable experience and are very happy they went. Mr. Liu was also extremely happy, as his wife had just given birth to their child eight days before we were there. After we got back, some of our classmates heard about the great experience, and I called and arranged for a group of three more girls to go and spend the night this past weekend. They got back and said it was a lot of fun. They woke up at 3:30a.m. to go watch the sunrise from Wang Jing Lou. We all appreciate your help and your web page very much, as it would have been much harder to find and arrange without your help. I plan on going back someday.

I'm emailing you about the Dongpo Guest House you set up a web page for. I wanted to thank you for providing such detailed information! Your website was a lot of help to my friends and I in our trip to Simatai. My two friends and I are from the University of Florida studying our 3rd year Chinese at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Just last weekend, after a friend had gone to Dongpo and raved about it, we hopped a bus from Beijing to Miyun and then a taxi to Simatai. We had an absolutely incredible time. As our friend and your website suggested, we generously partook of the AMAZING food, as well as the guest house itself. Sleeping next to the Great Wall was an experience I'll never forget! The best part of the journey, however, had to be when the owner's father, at 3:30AM, took us up to the highest watch tower through the mountains to see the sunrise. While we didn't have a sun that morning, coming up IN a cloud and watching it pour over and reveal the wall was unbelievable. By the way, the owner, Mr. Liu sends his regards! He was anxious to know if we had seen your website and when we told him that yes, in fact, we had read it throughly, he was extremely excited. He raved about you and told us that unfortunately you had returned to the US to work but he hoped you would come back soon. Also, a couple of weeks ago his wife gave birth to their first son! He is ecstatic. I was impressed by his business sense. He really hopes that his small hostel can attract a large foreign audience, and personally, I think if it gets enough attention, it absolutely can. That was the best food I've tasted in Beijing. I just wanted to let you know how amazing we found the Dongpo guest house. Thank you once again for your website!

What an amazing place and such a hospitable man. We shared photos of our adventure with him and he cooked us the best food. We were also blessed with a magical lightning storm. Thanks for sharing your little secret hideaway with us.

Now we have returned from a wonderful journey to China. We are very gratefully about your help. We found the little guest house and got contact to the taxi driver, you recommended to us – just perfect. The people in the guest house asked us to bring the best regards from them to you. PS: We had your favourite choice in the menu carte, Sweet and sour chicken, and YES, it’s good!!

I'm just sending you some pictures from our visit to the guest house. Promise you the Wall was an absolute highlight on our trip through China. We came in the afternoon, watched the sunset and the next morning we left at seven o’clock and walked to Jinshanling. Only at the end of our hike we met a few tourists; just what we needed – some time away from all the crowded sightseeing’s. Leo and his wife were just as friendly as one could imagine and the view from their place was indescribable. We actually ended up having a feast with Leo and four of his friends – what an experience! We hardly knew a word of Chinese and all they knew in English was: CHEERS! Great fun!! By the way, they’ve got a child now - about 50 days old. The cutest little thing ;o) Thanks again for the website – hope more people (but not too many) will find their way to the guest house! –cool place!
